January 2017 Luncheon

NEFAEP is pleased to announce our speaker for the first luncheon of 2017!

Eric P. Summa, PWS Chief, Planning and Policy Division

Eric Summa is the Chief of the Jacksonville District Planning and Environmental Policy Division charged with developing water-based infrastructure solutions which serve to protect and preserve our natural and cultural environment, assure storm damage reduction and improve navigation to enhance our nation’s economy.  Mr. Summa has served the public for 25-years working with the Corps of Engineers regulatory program first in the Norfolk, Virginia, later in Tampa and finally in Jacksonville, Florida.  He has served as the enforcement leader for the regulatory program in Florida also spent short time on the private side working for Tampa consulting firm.  His last role was leading the environmental compliance organization for the Jacksonville District.

He has a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida and a Bachelors degree in marine biology from Old Dominion University.  He is also a certified Professional Wetland Scientist as recognized by the Society of Wetland Scientists.

In his spare time, he teaches “Fines and Penalties in Environmental Law” at Florida Coastal School of Law, is hiking the Appalachian Trail, and annually attempts to cross a national park on foot.
