NEFAEP January Open Forum

Happy New Year!

Please join NEFAEP at Abatix for our January Luncheon which will be an open forum style meeting.  We encourage our members to attend with a focus on the things they would like to see happen with NEFAEP in 2015 (Joint Ventures, Presentation Ideas, Luncheon Locations, Social Locations, etc.) We want to give our membership the opportunity to have a voice in the direction of the group!

We are offering a special sponsorship deal for this meeting: $150 to speak about your company and services for 5 – 10 minutes. Contact if you are interested in sponsoring this event. The general audience will speak about their affiliations, events, associations and ideas for 2015.

Timucuan Trail Parks Foundation has agreed to share some information about their group and activities for 2015.  We would like to consider working with them this year on a tree planting or river/park cleaning project. We would also welcome other local non profits to this meeting and encourage them to take the floor for 5 -10 minutes to present on how we can work together or support one another.

Speaker: Lee Bienkowski
Topic: Impact  of In-situ Remediation on Contaminant Concentrations and Geochemistry
Abstract: In-situ remediation is commonly used in Florida to treat dissolved organic contaminants in groundwater.  A wide variety of bioremediation and in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) methods are approved for use in the state.  Although many of these methods have been shown to be effective in removing the organic contaminants, post-injection analyses indicate that metals concentrations often increase to above the groundwater cleanup target level (GCTL).  The author reviewed data from petroleum-impacted sites available on OCULUS and selected 43 sites with sufficient data to assess the impact of the injection event on metals concentrations.  The author employed statistical analysis to compare and contrast remediation methods for effectiveness at removing organic contaminants and extent of negative impact on groundwater chemistry.
